BIOGRAPHY
- Born to Kae as a result of an ex drugging her and taking advantage of her
- Living in the forgotten part of the city, without much medical care, Kae gave birth to a weak baby who was already addicted to the drugs she was on
- Living in the forgotten part of the city, without much medical care, Kae gave birth to a weak baby who was already addicted to the drugs she was on
- Having never wanted to bring a child into the rough life she lived, Kae never named her son, and usually just referred to him as ‘boy’ or ‘minow’
- From a very young age, the unnamed child was always breaking things to figure out how they worked, and creating all kinds of gadgets and gizmos. To help his stressed mother, he learned how to fix things and help out around their run down little apartment.
- Kae loved her unnamed child, and tried to give him the best life she could despite their rough lifestyle and living conditions.
- What friends he had nicknamed him Gadget due to all the little inventions he’d always be making.
- When the boy turned six, and Kae was bringing him home from the ghetto school he went to, they were mugged by a man fucked up on the drug Red Eye. The man murdered Kae when she tried to fight back to protect her son, and threw the young boy into the nearest dumpster to be forgotten about when he started screaming.
- When he got the courage to climb from the dumpster, Gadget crawled over to his mothers body to wait for her to wake up. He knew she had been gone, but still hoped she’d wake up to take him home. They had had nothing of value on them, but that red eyed man took the one thing the young boy had.
- Gadget took the necklace from around her bloody neck, looking up to watch as people simply walked on by. If they saw them, they picked up the pace, wanting nothing to do with it.
- Now on his own, the boy was on the streets to fend for himself. He took what he could from their run down apartment, and ran away to a different part of the forgotten city. He couldn’t stay where he had so many memories of his mother.
- He gained a reputation on the streets as Gadget, making tools from scraps he found and selling them, and fixing things for people. What money he earned went to clothes and food. He stole drugs and anything he needed that he couldn’t buy. He made a little home for himself in an old sewage pipe that had dried up, and slept on old couch cushions and dirty blankets.
- When he was ten, Gadget fucked up and stole drugs from two not completely unconscious men. He took off running, and tried using a gadget he had made to escape. It was supposed to send electric pulses through someone to render their muscles useless, something he made for self defense. He wasn’t good at aiming straight while running, and missed.
- Not looking where he was going, the skinny, dirty lad ran right into a larger man and fell down onto his ass. He looked over his shoulder to see the two men gaining, and was quick to jump behind the man when they got over to them.
- The two men demanded the child be handed over to them, and when the man refused, tried to grab him. The man jerked the child back, and his own guards stepped forward to shove the two drug addicts back and away from them. Gadget stared up at the man in shock, not knowing why he’d defend him.
The man looked down to the boy, frowning slightly:
“Why are they chasing you, boy?”
A little frown flickered onto his face. “I took something.” He uttered, as he was not a good liar.
“What is it?”
The boy reached into his pocket and pulled out the baggie full of pills. The man reached out and took them from his dirty hand, looking them over. It was a bunch of Finalimenta pills. He knew what they were.
“Where are your parents?” He asked, eyeing the young child before looking to what looked like a handmade weapon in his hands curiously. He admired the kid’s honesty.
“It’s just me. My mom died,” he said softly, not sure if he should take off or not.
“Oh?” The man frowned before pointing to what was in his hand. “Did you make that?”
“Yeah. I like building things.” The boy said, a faint smile on his features before the man reached his hand out, and he handed over the gun-like weapon. He watched as the man observed it, not realizing he was more so admiring the fact this simple kid from the forgotten city was making working technology. It made him wonder what he could do without anything holding him back.
“What’s your name, boy?” He asked, handing the gun back.
“I don’t have a name. Everyone just called me Gadget.” He explained, lifting a hand to shove his unruly hair from his face. “What’s your name?”
The man’s eyebrows drew together. He needed someone he could train to take care of his technology, to advance it. Maybe this kid would be good for it. Plus, the kid was all alone anyways. No one here cared for him. He was dirty, skinny, and probably living outside. He was what, maybe nine?
“My name is Genesis.” He crouched down, offering the kid a smile. “Would you like to come with me? You can be part of our family. Be my boy.”
“You want me?” Gadget gave him a skeptical look.
“Yeah. Hop in the car, and I’ll get you cleaned up, and a warm meal.” He added, hoping to bribe the malnourished child into accepting his offer.
Gadget looked to the car they’d been standing next to, and then to the two large guard-like men who had scared off the two drug addicts he’d stolen from. He didn’t make the best decisions, but in hindsight, this was probably the best decision the scrawny kid ever made. Usually getting into a stranger’s car meant dying, but for some reason he trusted this man, and hopped into the car when the door was opened and slid over to be able to look out the window. They stopped by where he lived so he could get the few things he wanted. Seeing where he lived, the man was glad he was taking him. This place was a dump.
Genesis took the boy back to his home, and introduced him to his sixteen year old daughter. Their nanny got him cleaned up, into clean clothes, and fed. He ate until he was sick to his stomach. This was the most food he had ever had in his whole life.
Adopting this kid ended up paying off for Genesis. The second this kid got his hands onto the advanced technology, he blossomed and sucked in everything he could learn from the man. He was mostly raised by the nanny who looked over him when Genesis was too busy running his business. She had a hard time keeping up with the boy, and all the things he kept building and coding, and the sneaky ways he got his hands onto those drugs he had been hooked on when he was born and after his mother passed.
Gadget only got the dream of having a father for about two years. He died when he turned twelve, and he really turned to drugs after that. When he was sober, he was the best tech wizard around and helped his adoptive sister run the company dropped into her lap from his passing. He got more responsibilities as he got older, and can solve anything when he’s sober. Now eighteen, he runs the technology side of their company. He develops anything his sister needs, and advances what technology they already have. He’s always coming up with something new, and has been told many times it's a shame he ruins his brain by taking drugs.
