BACKGROUND
Born to the throne, Princess Neaera was raised to be a leader, with stepping grace and an intuitive mind. Spending most of her days with her mother, Neaera rarely got to be around her father, but accepted this since she knew he was busy. Most of her care came from nannies, or the maids that cleaned the castle, especially when her mother was also busy.

As night started to spread over the kingdom, Neaera let a sigh slip from her lips, tugging her cloth sweater over her shoulders as she walked down the hall. It had been along day of lessons with Mr. Lenski, and she was ready to curl up in her bed and sleep for a few days. Glancing to a woman that scuttled past her with a basket of laundry, the princess tilted her head but said nothing, simply going and heading towards her room's door. Once her fingers slid around the cool iron handle, she pushed it open and wandered in. It was rather chilly tonight...
Pulling off her sweater, Neaera hardly got a moment to settle onto the edge of her bed before one of her tutors came rushing in. "Your majesty, please follow me, your father wishes to see you." The man bowed before looking up to the young lady.
"At this hour?" Neaera asked before slowly getting to her feet to put her sweater back on. "What does he need? Is it urgent, Mr. Kale?" She pulled her sweater tighter around her slim form as she followed the man through the halls.
"Yes, it seems so." The man ushered her towards him as he rushed down the halls and towards the garden.
As they neared the large doors, Neaera gave her tutor a confused look as he pushed the doors open. "Where is my father?" She stepped out onto the cold stone, shifting on her bare feet. She expected to be taken to her father's study, not the garden.
When a hand suddenly clasped over her mouth, an arm also slipping around her waist to pick her up, she tried letting out a muffled yelp. She panicked, trying to kick and scream as the stranger easily restricted the small girl from wiggling away as he fled through the garden and towards the back gate where a carriage waited. Once she was thrown in, she tried crying out for help, but another hand gripped tightly around her mouth, tears suddenly burning in her eyes as fear settled in.
"Shh, dear princess, we're doing this for your own good," the man who snagged her said as he climbed in and shut the door to the carriage, signaling the driver to get going.
Neaera squeezed her eyes shut, trying to squirm away from the man holding her. Sucking in a breath, she bit his hand to make him let go, scrambling away and to the corner of the carriage for some form of safety.
"If you stop struggling, this will go much easier for both of us," the man mused, crouching down in front of her as she tried to stuff herself into her corner to get away.
"What do you want?" Neaera asked, lifting her hands to tighten her sweater around her shoulders.
"Power, money, a hand over the king, the usual," he chuckled, sitting down next to her on the seat as the carriage rushed from the castle ground.
Neaera gulped, trying to shift away, but the wall of he carriage prevented such. She hid her face behind her now drawn up knees, not wanting to look at these men.
"Awh, what's wrong, love? Don't you like being a part of our little group?"
"Just as much as you'll like the dungeon," she said, sending a pointed look to the man before trying to hide herself again.
"Oh-ho-ho, we got a feisty one, don't we?" He laughed at her before leaning back and putting his hands behind his head.
Biting her lip, she refrained from saying anything against the man, just simply falling silent as she thought of ways to get out of this. She was puny compared to them; how would she be able to get away? For a few days of travel, Neaera stayed silent, refusing anything from these men until they'd force food down her mouth, or hit her up side the head for ignoring them.
As they came up on a town that she recognized from a few signs that she saw from the window, Neaera decided she should act quick and get out of here, through the window. Yeah, she'd be able to fit. Shifting on the seat, she gave a wary look to the two men she had been stuck with for the past few days, glancing out the dark window. 'Okay, you can do this, Neaera,' she told herself, watching the two men speak to one another for a moment.
Taking a breath to calm her nerves, Neaera quickly jumped up and slipped out of the window, yelping as she contacted with the hard ground head first as the carriage sped past but was soon skidding to a stop. Neaera had tumbled multiple times, head hitting the ground multiple times before she laid motionlessly on the side of the road, halfway off the road and onto the grass, unconscious.
"Shit, is she did?" One of the men asked, eyes widening.
"Yeah.. let's get out of here!" The men ran off, scared they just killed the princess.

Arm shifting slightly, Neaera let her blue eyes crack open slightly, a groan leaving her mouth to the pain throbbing in her head. Lifting her head up slowly, skin cold due to the night's air. Feeling something furry against her arm, her head turned slightly to see a puppy curled up by her, as if he was watching over her. She let a small, confused smile slide over her face. Was this her puppy? Forcing herself up with a small gasp of pain to her limbs being still, her toes numb from the cold since she had no shoes on.
Sitting up, she looked around the area, the puppy crawling into her lap to try and get warm. She curled her arms around the pup, wrapping her thin sweater around both as she shivered in the cold. She lifted her hand to her head, jerking it back at the pain of the sensitive skin being touched. Where was she? How'd she even get here? Wait- who was she? A small whine left her lips as she realized she couldn't remember anything. Her name, what happened, anything and everything was suddenly gone. Stumbling to her feet, not realizing the back of her head had a large, bleeding cut on it - most likely the cause of her memory loss - the princess who now didn't even know who she was started heading up the road while holding the pup in her arms.
She had no clue on where this road led, but maybe someone knew her? Maybe she'd run into someone who could help? Tucking her hair behind her ear, she clutched the puppy closer as she walked down the path in the middle of the night, freezing cold since all she had was her night gown on and a thin sweater. No shoes, so her feet were starting to hurt from the rough ground, and her toes felt numb.
